The Central Location of Hotel Allegro Wien City

In a location reflecting the interplay between the dynamic lifestyle of a city of culture and the warm, personal brand of hospitality for which central Vienna is so renowned, our 3-star Hotel Allegro Wien City – in Vienna’s 5th district – captivates for many reasons, not least for its ideal access to the Vienna public transportation system: in just 10 quick, convenient minutes, you will find yourself in Vienna’s historic downtown area, or at a variety of other destinations throughout the city!

With a series of underground tram lines, buses, as well as the Vienna commuter-rail system, you are within quick, convenient reach of countless destinations across the length and breadth of Vienna. You are just a 10-minute, direct ride from the foot of the Vienna State Opera: Once there, you will be in the midst of the magnificent Ringstrasse with its monumental buildings (such as the Hofburg, the Art and Natural History Museums, city hall, the Burgtheater, parliament, Vienna University etc.), as well as at the entrance to the Kärntnerstrasse pedestrian zone, which is the main axis of central Vienna, accompanied by magical back lanes, cafes, churches, buildings and shops. All of Vienna awaits you.

Matzleinsdorferplatz – located in Vienna’s 5th “Margareten” district, not only boasts a straight connection to downtown Vienna, it is also conveniently located between Vienna’s two main railway stations: the West and South stations (the future main station) are both just a few tram stops from our 3-star hotel, whilst the south and west autobahns are also easy to reach by car (see map).

Due to our good transit connections, you are within inexpensive reach of sights and hot spots throughout the city of Vienna. Here is just a sample: you are one direct ride from the Vienna Prater, home to a famous amusement park, along with forests and open fields that are perfect for recreation. Likewise, the Vienna exhibition grounds, located right next to the Prater, are only 20 minutes and one transfer from the hotel. Yet another direct connection gets you to Vienna’s Mariahilferstrasse – the young, hip and biggest shopping street in Vienna, which ends in the now-famous cultural quarter known as the Museumsquartier, where Viennese artists, established and up-and-coming, bustle about the many exhibitions, restaurants, cafes and other cultural events. Our hotel is also located between Vienna’s two most magnificent palaces: Schloss Belvedere, which is closest, is just 2 tram stops from our hotel, while the baroque cultural gem that is Schloss Schönbrunn, with its breathtaking gardens and parks, is only a 20-minute ride and one transfer from us. The Hundertwasser House, close to an arm of the Danube river, is an easy ride away. If you have enough time, you should treat yourself to a short visit to Vienna’s most popular market, the colorful Naschmarkt, also only a few tram stops from Hotel Allegro, and right next to the popular Freihausviertel, a quarter with nice restaurants, cafes and bars.

The area immediately surrounding Hotel Allegro Wien City in Vienna’s 5th “Margareten” district, has undergone steady development for a number of years. Due to the remodeling and rehabilitation efforts along the Wiedner Hauptstrasse, an increasingly broad selection of gastronomic and cultural opportunities is becoming available. Springing up between Hotel Allegro and Vienna’s inner city are more and more restaurants, cafes and pubs, offering everything from Austrian to international cuisine. From wiener schnitzel to Portuguese cod, Persian rice dishes, Thai curries and Japanese sushi, to Viennese apple strudel and cream cakes. Cultural life is also blossoming and thriving in the small galleries, stages and theaters of the 5th district. Living here are numerous artists, with their workshops and studios. Our part of town offers a constant array of cultural events including art shows, readings, theatrical and cabaret performances.

Our charming team of receptionists, who are available 24 hours a day, are always here to point out what’s going on, the best, fastest and cheapest way to get there, as well as where you can get in some quality shopping, enjoy a good, pleasant meal, or go out for a drink in the evening – be that close to Hotel Allegro, or anywhere in Vienna, whatever you are in the mood for
